About
====================
Landing page for the ATP-sensitive potassium channel (**K-ATP**).
This channel transports potassium ions across the plasma membrane according to the concentration gradient, and is activated by internal ATP. K-ATP is part of the inward rectifying (K-ir) family
Some isoforms are also G-protein regulated.

The KCNJx protein forms the pore of the channel. Column 'Interacts with' contains the experimentally-proven interactions this protein makes with other proteins, which generally help in regulating the activity of KCNJx.
